The JLP is opposing itself
published: Sunday | June 13, 2004
THE EDITOR Sir, FOR VARIOUS reasons I had not previously voted for the Jamaica Labour Party, but in the last general elections I defied both my instincts and better judgement and did exactly that in the hope that my vote would have contributed to a much needed change of Government in the country.
Alas, that was not to be. However, inspite of this, I had hoped that the JLP would at least have lived up to its responsibility to the Jamaican people as Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition. Instead it has pre-occupied itself with rancour, divisiveness and back-stabbing.
In light of the foregoing, I could not possibly even contemplate voting again for an Opposition that spends all of its time opposing itself instead of the Government of the day.
I am, etc.,
