Tax on tourists
published: Thursday | May 13, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I THOUGHT the tax on tourists was a good idea but I was most upset that the money was for the tourist industry. Why don't they tax tourists and the money go to the suffering mothers who every September have to provide uniforms, books, school fees, transport fees etc?

As tourists are always allowed in freely and welcomed with open arms by Jamaica's wonderful hopitality and people, I am sure the fund for the ordinary people would be a great idea.

I am etc,
