JAMAICA'S OLYMPIC bronze medallist, Gregory Haughton, was in winning form at the Boston University FasTrack Invitational meet at the weekend.

Haughton, who finished third in the 400 metres at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, won the one-lap event held at Boston University Track and Tennis Center in a time of 45.94 seconds.

Another Jamaican participant in the race, Dwayne Barrett, claimed one of the major placings in finishing third in 47 seconds. Joe Mendel of Parisi Speed (46.65) was second.

Lansford Spence showed good form like his Jamaican counterparts in the flat quarter-mile events also, though at a different meet - the Adidas Classic Indoor Track & Field Meet held at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.

SPENCE TAKES 400M

Representing the University of Lincoln, Spence won the 400m in 48.42 seconds, beating Jared Essler of North Dakota (48.63) and his Lincoln teammate, Fabian Felix (48.71).

Spence returned to team up with Antawne President, Carlington Marsh and Fabian Felix to help Lincoln 'A' to victory in the men's mile relay in 3:13.28.

The female team, which had Moya Thompson, formerly of Hampton, running the anchor leg, was second in 3:43.76 behind North Dakota State 'A' (3:43.58).

Former Manchester athlete Karen Robinson, now representing Lincoln, placed third in the women's 60m dash in 7.64 seconds, the same time as second place Deneeka Torrey of Colorado. Nebraska's Priscilla Lopes (7.36) was third.
