Lucien Rattray, former president of the Airports Authority of Jamaica, passed away on Christmas Day. - File LUCIEN RATTRAY, chairman of the Caribbean Maritime Institute, and a former president of the Airports Authority of Jamaica, died on Christmas Day.
Mr. Rattray, who is the brother of former Solicitor-General, Dr. Kenneth Rattray, and Carl Rattray, former President of the Court of Appeal, was 76. He is the father of Barry Rattray, the noted architectural designer, Bruce Rattray, the senior marine pilot, Kurt Rattray, attorney-at-law, and brother of Alvin Rattray, former chairman of the National Family Planning Board, Victor and Trevor.
A chartered surveyor, he served in several posts over the years, including executive vice-president of the Port Authority of Jamaica. He was also a director of the American Association of Port Authorities, as well as a life member of the Realtors Association of Jamaica.
In his professional career, he worked as Deputy Commissioner of Land Valuation at the Ministry of Agriculture 1956 to 1966; estate manager at the University of the West Indies 1966 to 1973; general manager at the Port Authority of Jamaica 1973 to 1991 and president of the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) 1994 to 1995.
Mr. Rattray leaves wife Fay, and sisters, Alma, Hyacinth, Carmen and Joan.
