Finding jobs in Jamaica
published: Wednesday | November 26, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir,

I WOULD also like to add my voice to the list of persons overseas who wish to find jobs in Jamaica. I was born and spent most of my childhood in Jamaica, migrating to Canada to further my education. I'm about to graduate from university and would love to be able to return home to help my homeland.

Isn't this what the government tries to encourage, the return of Jamaicans to help out ah yard? Would it not make sense to have a programme in place which matches overseas Jamaicans such as myself with jobs that fit our skills?

I do not have enough money to afford a plane flight to Jamaica on blind faith in the hope that I'll be able to find a job before I go bankrupt. I urge the government or the corporate sector to put in place some programme to help those who wish to reverse the tide of the brain drain.

I am etc,
