It was indeed a riot, Mr Dyer
published: Tuesday | November 4, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

MR. GODFREY Dyer, of the JHTA, is quoted as saying with regard to the recent problems in Flankers, "It was a demonstration not a riot." Although Mr. Dyer's efforts to put the affair in perspective are understood and appreciated, when tour buses are set ablaze, and barricades are erected on the main highway, and guests are forced to access the airport terminal via a runway, it is no longer a protest, it is indeed a riot.

For the sake of tourism in Jamaica, let us hope that it is not soon repeated.

I am, etc.,
