Jamdammers series gets under way tomorrow
published: Saturday | October 25, 2003

THE 2003 JAMDAMMERS Road Race series starts tomorrow with the Puma 5K which gets under way at the National Stadium.

The Western Sports sponsored Grand Prix Series event will begin at 7:00 a.m. and is dubbed 'Road to the Reggae Marathon'.

Today's event will see more than $120,000 in prize money up for grabs in individual and team categories. The High School championship, which is a special part of this year's event, will see Tacius Golding, Holmwood Technical and Edwin Allen battling for top honours.

The individual event will feature a battle royal for top places between Wainard Talbert, veteran Linton McKenzie, Gregory McKenzie and Robert Watson in the men's category while Tamika Thomas, Nadine Henry and Arieta Martin are expected to carry the female flag.

The additional incentive for this year's Puma event is that if the winners (male or female) of the individual event do so in a Puma shoe, their prize money will be automatically doubled.
