GUYANA'S RED Stripe Bowl squad arrived in the island yesterday in an upbeat mood as they brace for their toughest challenge in this year's competition against powerful homesters Jamaica.

On Thursday they go up against the region's most talented team in semi-final two at Kaiser but their captain, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, said he is not worried about the Jamaicans who have nine Test players in their squad.

"We are not worried, we are going out there to play our cricket and do what we have to do," he said.

While saying so, Chanderpaul expressed a belief that beating the homesters will boost their title chances in a big way.

"If we can do that, we can win," the left-handed middle-order Test star told The Gleaner upon his team's arrival at the Norman Manley International Airport yesterday.

100 PER CENT WIN RECORD

The Jamaicans hold a 100 per cent win record, this after victories over Leeward Islands XI, Windward Islands, Canada and Trinidad & Tobago which gave them top honours and maximum 16 points in Zone A which was played here.

There are some concerns for the Guyanese captain, who is not happy with his team's recent matches.

"In the last couple of games we have not being playing up to our best, but I think we are going to get it better in the semi-finals.

"We need to put in some hard work on our overall cricket and hopefully we can get it right," Chanderpaul added.

In four Zone B matches that were played in Antigua, Guyana defeated Young West Indies, Antigua & Barbuda and the University of the West Indies team, but lost to Barbados.

GUYANA: - Shivnarine Chanderpaul (captain), Ramnaresh Sarwan (vice captain), Sewnarine Chattergoon, Krishna Arjune, Ryan Ramdass, Narsingh Deonarine, Lennox Cush, Travis Dowlin, Mahendra Nagamootoo, Vishal Nagamootoo, Neil McGarrell, Rayon Griffith, Esuan Crandon, Rayon Thomas.
