...Search on for missing lawman
published: Saturday | August 30, 2003

THE ST. CATHERINE South police are searching for one of their colleagues who has been missing since Wednesday.

Reports are that 33-year-old Devon Pearson, a constable attached to the Greater Portmore Police Station, St. Catherine, has been reported missing by his family.

On Thursday his 1996 black Bluebird motorcar was found in the Caymanas Bay area of St. Catherine, with the keys still in the ignition. Since then the police have been combing the area for their missing colleague.

During yesterday's search, the lawmen came upon the body of a man. Investigators, believing that they had found the lawman, immediately sent a radio message to Police Control that the body of the missing man was found.

This prompted a number of other police personnel to rush to the scene, while others became emotional at their various offices. Further investigation revealed that the body was not of the policeman, but of another man who had been reported missing a week ago.

The police said they are continuing the search for their colleague. It is alleged that at times the missing policeman used his private motor as a taxi.

Constable Pearson joined the police force on November 12, 1990. Originally from Point Hill district, St. Catherine, up to the time he went missing, he was living at 2-East, Greater Portmore.
