AN ANKLE injury which grounded midfield flyer Jermaine Johnson ahead of last month's CONCACAF Gold Cup has again robbed him of an opportunity.
The 23-year-old, who last week moved to Third Division Yeovil Town FC on a one month loan from Premiership team Bolton Wanderers, was forced to return to Bolton by the way of an injury. This is according to a report on Yeovil's web-site.
"Jermaine Johnson will not be involved in Yeovil Town's game at Leyton Orient this afternoon," read a section of the report which was published ahead of yesterday's game against Leyton Orient.
It added that team manager Gary Johnson had hoped to include Johnson and Paul Terry, another new signing, for the first time in a competitive game. Due to the injury which, according to the report, was bothering him all week, he was allowed "to return to Bolton to properly recover".
"Jermaine's gone back for the time being," manager Gary Johnson was quoted as saying.
"He had the injury before he came to us and he hasn't been able to shake it off.
"It was highlighted in training and then in the reserve game on Wednesday that he wasn't firing on all cylinders. I've spoken to Sam Allardyce (Bolton manager) and he understands the situation," Gary Johnson continued.
The former Tivoli Gardens man, the report said, could return to Huish Park (home of Yeovil Town) when fully fit.
While things are not so bright for Johnson in the British Isles, compatriot Adam Wallace is settling in well at KSV Roefelare in the Belgian Second Division. After joining the Belgian team at the end of July, the Canada-born player, who represented Jamaica at the 2001 World Youth Cup in Argentina, has forced himself into the starting team.
