THE EDITOR, Sir:
"IT'S AS if I have a new father!"
This was the sentiment expressed by the daughter of Mr. Kirklyn Williams when she saw her father on his return after his successful surgery.
Mr. Williams is well and grows stronger every day. Thanks to the generosity of the readers of The Gleaner, a young girl can live in the hope that her father will be around to see her grow up.
The outpouring of support from members of the public was tremendous. We received donations from all over Jamaica, as well as from people in the United States, Canada and England. Because of you, the students of Holy Childhood have learned a valuable lesson: that they can make a difference in this world.
Words cannot begin to tell the joy, the sense of satisfaction that we felt when Mr. Williams was able to walk unaided onto the premises to visit with the students and, later in the afternoon, with the parents of the school. We realise, however, that we definitely could not have accomplished anything without the generous donations we received.
People from all walks of life have come forward to help us and to all we say a heartfelt Thank You.
I am, etc.,
