SSP Adams should take a sabbatical
published: Friday | June 13, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM shocked that SSP Adams is seeking to take legal action against Commissioner Forbes over the dismantling of the CMU. The SSP is clearly in reactionary mode and not thinking rationally. This is gross arrogance, in my view, and gives further credence to Commissioner Forbes' public statement that sometimes a policeman needs to be saved from himself.

SSP Adams, by seeking to take legal action against the Commissioner, can only do further damage to an already shaky constabulary. Commissioner Forbes is in charge of the day to day running of the JCF and if in his judgement certain infrastructural changes within the force need to be made, he has the legal authority to do so with the blessings of the Minister. I think that SSP Adams should seriously consider taking a sabbatical.

I am, etc.,
