Bank on Royal Run
published: Friday | June 6, 2003

By Orville Clarke, Freelance Writer

TOMORROW'S RACING Pools game, which offers a carryover of $60,000, gets under way with a 3-y-o maiden condition race over 1300 metres, in which UNTOUCHABLE looks the pick at the weights.

Trained by Anthony Nunes, UNTOUCHABLE will be having his first outing since January 25, but despite this has worked well and also runs on Lasix for the first time.

UNTOUCHABLE has proved competitive in better company and with the distance right up his street, the son of Pat 'N' Jac should win from SULA, FORBIDDEN and SLEW THEM DAVID.

Next on the programme is Division II of the 3-y-o maiden condition race and with good recent form practically non-existent, JEHAN could use the opportunity to at last open her account.

If she lays low once again, then it could be AIRSPEED, TIP TOP MACHINE or the Azan-trained MANISH.

Race three for the Winston Griffiths O.D. Trophy should feature SUPA LEI, stable-companion ROSE BUD, BADBOYBIN and COZY PROSPECTOR who caught the eye last Saturday when finishing a close second to CHAMPION MELODY over 1200 metres, a race in which he had both ROSE BUD (4th) in arrears.

COZY PROSPECTOR showed marked improvement in running that day and has obviously improved.

As such, he is not too high in the handicaps to go one better.

SUPA LEI from the Philip Feanny stables has been running fair races. The last time she ventured over this trip on May 3, closed well for third behind SADALMELIK.

If able to repeat that performance, the Royal Minister filly will fight out the finish.

The lightly raced ROSE BUD is worth another chance, especially with a trophy now at stake.

To my mind, however, the Azan-trained BADBOYBIN (working well) gets the ideal opportunity to set the record straight and thus gets the vote.

KING'S HIGHWAY, who advertised his well being last Saturday when finishing a close second to PRINCESS ALEXANDRA over 1300 metres, is tipped to go one better at the expense of GUARDIAN ANGEL and POINT GUARD in the fourth, while it should be the very fit ROYAL RUN in the fifth race for the Ren Gonsalves Memorial Cup.

The last three races should be won by VOICE MAIL, TOCUMEN in the 7th for the 'Hall of Fame' Trophy, the day's feature, and the down in class BAY SAVAGE in the closing race over 1200 metres.

Their respective dangers are the recent winner JUST FRIENDS in the 6th, INSATIABLE in the 7th and BLOODY MARY with BULLETWOOD in the nightpan.
