Old Harbour to Bartons main road reopens
published: Friday | June 6, 2003

RESIDENTS OF Bartons, Brown's Hall and Pimento Grove, St. Catherine will now be able to travel their usual route, as the main road from Old Harbour to Bartons, which was rendered impassable by the recent flood rains, has been reopened.

The National Works Agency (NWA) said a team from its St. Catherine department managed to pump away the approximately three feet of water that settled along the roadway, restricting vehicular movement. The roadway became impassable after water from a nearby pond located at Bannister, overflowed.

The settlement of the large body of water forced motorists to use alternative routes through Macca Tree, St. Faith's Pen, Content and Spring Village to get to the Old Harbour main road.
