High praise for Trudy, Anieshia
published: Friday | June 6, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM a Jamaican living in America. I recently witnessed two most memorable moments. First Trudy and then Anieshia.

Let me take this opportunity to say congratulations to Trudy for a competitive third place in the Scripps Howard spelling bee competition.

Secondly, I am wondering why more exposure was not given to Anieshia Williams. I am not a professional at this but let me just say that Anieshia gave an excellent speech at the Caribbean Speech Festival. While her competitors spoke from a piece of paper, she spoke from the heart. Truly a Jamaican she is. She stood with poise and spoke with liberty for her country.

Congratulations Anieshia, you are an inspiration.

I am, etc.,
