Two police officers and an inspector
published: Monday | April 21, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WOULD like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to two police officers and an inspector who on Friday, April 4, 2003, managed to corner three motorists who committed road breaches.

For what seemed like an eternity, motorists continuously rode the soft shoulder from the moment they passed the Jose Marti round-about up to the bridge. The culprits are usually taxi and minibus drivers, along with a couple of other indisciplined drivers.

On this evening, however, there were two cops waiting and a driver in his green Mitsubishi Lancer was nabbed just by the location of the entrance to an industrial complex. Thank you, officers.

My other commendation goes to the Inspector who got out of his unmarked vehicle and ordered two drivers to reverse and face the direction of Dumbeholden. Far too often during the peak hours, again taxi and minibus drivers contravene the road rules and break out of line and block other drivers wanting to turn on the road leading to Bernard Lodge.

I do hope those drivers were duly ticketed and made to feel the reward of disobeying road traffic rules. Thank you sirs.

I am, etc.,

NOEL A. PENNANT
