Nat'l Works Agency conducts road repairs

THE NATIONAL Works Agency (NWA) is currently undertaking rehabilitative work on several roadways in Manchester, St. Elizabeth and St. Mary.

The rehabilitative work which is being conducted under separate programmes total over $329 million.

In Manchester, Lagan Holdings and Surrey Paving have started preparatory work on the Mandeville to Mark Post and Williamsfield to Greenvale roads under a $208 million road repair contract. The project is financed through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. While a $6 million rehabilitation project funded by the Caribbean Development Bank under the Flood Damage programme is scheduled to get under way in St. Mary. General Paving Company limited has been contracted to undertake the programme, which will see eight kilometres of the Hamilton Mountain road repaired over the next four months.

The Lacovia to Vauxhall and Wilton to Union main roads in St. Elizabeth are being rehabilitated under the Inter-American Development Bank Flood damage programme which will see approximately 12.5 kilometres of roadway being repaired at a total of $115 million.

Under the NWA's Urban Rural Rehabilitation and Maintenance Programme Asphalting Specialist Limited is carrying out work on 8,000 metres of the Dr. Rock road in the parish.
