Please revive Falmouth
published: Friday | March 28, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

STUDIES HAVE been done about the town of Falmouth. Committees have been formed, meetings have taken place, yet the town which everyone knows and acknowledges as great potential as a tourist destination and subsequently a major earner of foreign currency, remains almost in ruins.

The rich architectural history of Falmouth is virtual foreign exchange waiting to be discovered and properly utilised. I can only imagine the benefits which would accrue to the parish, if steps are taken to implement what has been formulated over the past years. Countless jobs would be available and this could remove some of the unemployed from the parish. Business interests would benefit due to the decrease in unemployment levels, also the number of potential shoppers would increase. Also tax intake would rise.

As residents wait for implementation, a public education programme should be implemented.

I am, etc.,

ERROL BARRETT

Falmouth P.O.,

Trelawny
