Moving on after defeat
published: Friday | March 28, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT IS now five months since the last General Election and those stubborn PNP activists and supporters have not yet awoken from that bad dream, that the incumbent Mr. Arnold Bertram lost his seat, pity.

If he lost his seat by foul means, then this issue should be settled in the courts, and not tried by Street Justice. This is Jamaica 2003; we should not be entrapped in this type of decay mentality. North West St. Ann is a PNP stronghold, a safe seat and Mr. Bertram should not have lost this seat to Mrs. Parchment. At every recount, she registered more votes, so whether you be former Member of Parliament, Councillor-to-be, or activist, do please concede defeat by now and allow the woman to get on with her work.

The building is not owned by any one person, or group of people, but is the property of the Government of Jamaica. It is the constituency office for North West St. Ann, so it makes no difference who built it.

The bottom line is, it should be occupied by the present Member of Parliament of North West St. Ann. Tough luck.

I am, etc.,

Very Concerned
