CALL ME SACH, who was narrowly beaten by BEGUM over a mile on February 28, looks all set to open her account when she contests the opening circular nine race for maidens in tomorrow's Racing Pools game, this offering a modest carryover of $44,000.
Trained by Rupert Ferryman, CALL ME SACH also lost narrowly to SIR VISHNU KUMAR over 1500 metres on February 12 when slowly away. This lightly raced 4-y-o filly has obviously settled down to her racing and with her form superior to the others, should lead home BLACK EMPRESS (visor off, figure eight on) and WITCHCRAFT in a field of seven.
Next on the programme is a 1100-metre race for five-year-olds and up in which the recent winner NOWITSKI looks best of a bad lot.
Trained by Victor Williams, the 5-y-o mare made all over the straight five course on her recent and reporting even better for this race, should follow up at the expense of PERSONAL TOUCH, MISS HIMO and SANTIAGO.
Recent winner RED BOOTLACES is weighted to repeat in the third race over 1200 metres, especially with champion jockey Trevor Simpson (who rode his 800th winner locally on Wednesday) down to ride her.
The five-year-old mare led home SIG SAUER over 1100 metres on February 28 and even though worse off at the weights with her old rival, should not only beat her again but fit BUSHY PARK RAJA, who bids for his fifth consecutive win, as well.
Speedy CHOCOLATE SLEW seldom runs a bad race and coming back fit and well to contest the fourth over the round five course, gets the nod over the down in class FIRST TRICK, TIME AFTER TIME and recent winner FRENCH MINISTER.
ETERNAL STREAM apparently has little to beat in the fifth race for maiden three-year-olds, having proved highly competitive in three races from four career starts, best of these when finishing a length second to PITTACUS over the straight some months ago.
True, she was highly fancied to beat ROYAL MALICE over the straight five course on February 28, but weakened in the latter stages to finish seventh. ETERNAL STREAM was fitted with the tongue time for the first time that day and obviously failed to click in that equipment.
Trainer Richard Azan has discarded the tongue tie for this race, however, and ETERNAL STREAM is confidently expected to rebound at the expense of the well forward debutant CRUCIAL SEASON.
The last three races should be won by MAN FROM ELDORADO (aimed too low), recent winner CIRCLE DE THRONE (fitter than most) and STAR CREEK (still a cut above rivals). Their respective dangers are PERSONAL NEMESIS, RAJMIR in the 7th for the James B. Dawes Memorial Trophy and THE RHYTHM DOCTOR in the closing round five conditional claiming race.
