Small-minded and selfish
published: Friday | March 7, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

RECENTLY, THE residents of Ingleside and the surrounding areas were treated to a horrifying party! The party took place at the house of a certain well-known resident of Mandeville, who decided that everyone should be treated to his thundering music. The banks of speakers blared from about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, all through the night until about 4 a.m. the following day.

This gross and flagrant disrespect for the residents of Ingleside has angered an otherwise quiet and tolerant society. Calls of complaints and requests for the music to be turned down fell on deaf ears. The roar of motor bikes tore through the community like it was a race-track. Who cared? It was the "big man's birthday" and he was going to celebrate it the way he wanted, whether anyone liked it or not!

Why does a man move to a community that is quiet and respectful of others only to turn it into the place from whence he came? This small-minded, selfish attitude that it matters not that I interfere with your life, that I wreck your night, that I wreck your life and care not what plans you had for the next day shows the arrogance that people like these have.

And why do the Police in Mandeville permit this man to do what no one else is allowed to do?

I am etc.,

SALLY PORTEOUS

JLP Councillor/Caretaker

Mandeville Division
