Promises once again?

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I READ Burchell Whiteman's letter to the Editor "Setting the record straight" regarding his conversation with a Gleaner reporter on the government's $95 million consultant controversy. The minister's letter vigorously protests The Gleaner's characterisation of the tone of his responses to the reporter's questions.
Since Mr. Whiteman is said to have a reputation for being "urbane and affable", I can understand his dismay at being branded with the labels: "curt and arrogant."
Meanwhile, the issue of substance once again seems to elude us. After all, we now have the Omar Davies model of handling even self-inflicted allegations of government misuse/ abuse of public funds. And (once again) we have been promised an inquiry that, if past history is any judge, will lead to the complete exoneration of, and/or declarations of complete confidence in, all concerned and/or overpaid from the people's purse.
