Double satisfaction!

SATISFIER capped a good week for popular owner Joseph "Fudgie" Duany, thanks to an impressive victory by the vastly improved four-year-old gelding in the Overnight Allowance feature over 1500 metres at Caymanas Park yesterday.

Duany, who on Thursday night experienced the ultimate satisfaction when his crack sprinter, I'MSATISFIED, was named Horse-of-the-Year ahead of SIMPLY MAGIC and MENUDO, saw SATISFIER (a full brother to I'MSATISFIED) romp to his third win from his last four starts, scoring by four lengths under leading all-time jockey Winston Griffiths.

Fresh from his near miss in the IGL Trophy over 1700 metres when beaten on the line by PROCEEDACCORDINGLY two weeks earlier, SATISFIER was installed a 3-5 favourite in a field of 10 and watched the proceedings from just off the early pace in fourth as WITHALLMYHEART led under pressure from RED GENERAL and EMPERADOR.

Coming four wide into the straight, SATISFIER was produced by Griffiths leaving the quarter pole. As WITHALLMYHEART, RED GENERAL and the 26-1 outsider FROMAJACKTOAKING battled for the lead approaching the distance, he stormed through widest of all in mid-stretch for an emphatic victory, looking every inch an out of class horse.

RED GENERAL (9-1) outbattled FROMAJACKTOAKING by a nose for second, while RAPIDASH at 31-1 placed fourth.

Bred by Ham Stables Limited, SATISFIER is trained by 13-time champion Philip Feanny, who also conditions I'MSATISFIED and another top class campaigner, RAKKADASH for Duany.

Earlier in the afternoon, another vastly improved four-year-old gelding, INSATIABLE, floored the odds on short priced favourite BLACK THATCH in the Restricted Allowance IV for four-year-olds and up over the circular nine course.

With Barbadian jockey Simon Husbands riding for bang in form trainer Richie Todd, INSATIABLE (5-2) was ridden to chase the Wayne DaCosta-trained BLACK THATCH for most of the way before taking over from the final bend.

Quickening nicely from early in the straight, the son of Restless Thief-Instead of Roses moved away from BLACK THATCH and stayed on strongly in deep stretch to win by two lengths from the very fast-finishing SIR ROMEL (8-1) with BLACK THATCH folding into third in a field of nine.

Owned by the X Factor, INSATIABLE has now won two of his last three races.

Todd had a second winner on the 10-race programme in the 4-y-o filly ROYAL GUARD (5-1) who made all in the fifth race over 1100 metres. Todd has so far saddled nine winners, the most by any trainer this season.

Meanwhile, apprentice Clive "Junior Spoon" Douglas notched his first winner from his first ride when the 5-y-o debutante NOWITSKI, a 3-5 favourite, made all convincingly in the second race for maidens over the straight five course.

Although this was his first official winner, Douglas had previously ridden two winners at Caymanas Park in races confined to exercise riders in recent years.

On what turned out to a tough day for form players, the Victor Williams-trained NOWITSKI was one of three favourites to score on the card. The others were SATISFIER and RED BOOTLACES at 3-5 in the fourth.
