Hailing Supt Amos
published: Friday | February 7, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

This letter of commendation is addressed to Supt. Newton Amos.

SIR: WELCOME to Montego Bay. I saw you directing traffic on Wednesday morning, February 5, 2003, in the vicinity of West Gate Shopping Centre. That is the kind of hands-on management that the force needs. You were neither "strutting" nor "profiling" just doing your job.

This attitude/behaviour will not only create example and motivation for your team players, but will certainly win you the respect and support of the citizens of Montego Bay.

Indeed, if that is your modus operandi, you are demonstrating that "LEADERSHIP IS ACTION NOT POSITION".

May the Lord preserve and protect you and the other members of the Police Force, as you seek to "serve, protect and reassure".

I am, etc.,
