DONOVAN SINCLAIR smashed the first century of the Headley Cup season and piloted last year's beaten finalists Holmwood Technical to a crushing 125-run win over Spalding in Christiana yesterday.
Sinclair, brother of Jamaica wicketkeeper Matthew who was included the country's senior regional side, top scored with 109 in Holmwood's 264 for 5 declared. His century came off 87 balls and his innings was mainly compiled in a 154 third wicket partnership with Ziggy Levy (61).
The two had come together at 49 for 2 at the loss of Omar Watson bowled by medium pacer Romar James for 24.
Spalding, who had won the task and sent in Holmwood to bat, were blown away for 39 in just 11.4 overs. Pacer Uriel Samuels bowled unchanged to preen himself with impressive figures of 7 for 16 off 6 overs.
There were two run outs with six batsmen failing to trouble the scorers. Opener Kenroy Mullings was the lone standout with 17 with the next best score being extras, 9.
