HallLONDON, CMC:
PAUL HALL scored two goals, each time with plays involving his Jamaica international team-mate Onandi Lowe, to help title-chasing Rushden and Diamonds 2-0 in the English third division yesterday.
Hall struck a goal in each half for the comfortable win that pushed Rushden & Diamonds up to 51 points, only two behind leaders Hartlepool, whose game was postponed.
Bermuda's Shaun Goater also made the scoring headlines yesterday, getting one of Manchester City's goals in a 2-1 victory over Leeds.
Rushden & Diamonds kept up the pressure for the league lead with their win at Kidderminster.
They were in front after 15 minutes when Lowe picked up a through-ball from Paul Underwood and slipped a pass to Hall, who coolly slotted into the bottom corner from 12 yards.
Lowe spanked a thunderous 35-yard free-kick in the 69th minute that Kidderminster's goalkeeper Stuart Brock could not hold, and the ball fell favourably for Hall, who tapped in the rebound from eight yards for a team-leading 11 goals this season.
At Maine Road, Goater snatched his seventh goal of the season when he sent Manchester City ahead in the 29th minute.
Niclas Jensen made it 2-0 win he scored a superb goal in the 50th minute, crashing in a Nicolas Anelka cross, and Harry Kewell's 90th minute goal was the only consolation for Leeds.
Arsenal, idle after their game with Stern John's Birmingham was postponed, had their league lead reduced by Manchester United to just two points after United whipped West Brom 3-1.
