Man found dead on beach
published: Friday | January 3, 2003

BLACK RIVER, St. Elizabeth:

AT ABOUT 7 a.m. on New Year's Day, a passerby stumbled upon the body of a male, dressed in a black pants and black T-shirt, washed upon the beach on Crane Road in Black River.

Relatives later identified the body as that of Devon Blackwood, 35, otherwise called "Thomas" of Pedro Cross in the parish.

Family members told The Gleaner that Blackwood had been acting strangely for sometime. He was taken to the Black River Hospital on Monday by his father and treated by a doctor. While his father was in the process of filling his presciption from the pharmacist, he was discovered missing. A report was then made to the Pedro Police Station.

The body was removed to Brown's Funeral Parlour for post-mortem. The Black River police, who are investigating, believe that he drowned.
