Deejays, stop bigging up murderers!
published: Tuesday | December 24, 2002

THE EDITOR, Sir:

CONCERNING THE dancehall culture and violence in our society. Believe it or not but, words, spoken or written, are the most powerful tool that God has ever given to man.

The forbidden fruit that the Devil used to seduce Eve was not an apple but, the words of his mouth. The Bible says "by their fruits you shall know them," well the words from one's mouth are seeds that produce fruits. The fruits are the end result of whatever is the result of the words spoken.

Now with the dancehall deejays bigging up the shottas and praising murderers, past and present, killing informers and police with their lyrics, a young unguarded and unsuspecting mind is going to react to such a message. If that young mind is living in the ghetto in dire poverty and is uneducated then that is a candidate for the shotta academy.

Mr Deejay, clean up your lyrics, stop bigging up murderers and people who create havoc in society and teach the youths the right thing.

I am etc.,
