A watercolour painting of the church, done by Nyla D'Andrea in 1998.
THIS YEAR, the Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 'new' church.
The building was designed by Vicens Oliver and built in 1952 by Leonard I. Chang. Members of the congregation generously donated the furnishings for the church, including the altar, crucifix, organ, stations of the cross, confessional and the pews.
A number of events are planned for the anniversary year commencing with a Special Mass on Sunday November 17, at 4:00 p.m.
A Development Fund will be launched to fund four major projects:
The re-roofing of the church.
The building of a columbarium designed by Earl Levy.
The building of a Pastoral Centre to house the ministries of the church.
The expansion of the health clinic to offer more health services to the community.
Among the church appointments are the following:
Main altar
Tabernacle
Candlesticks
Candelabra - one pair
Vigil light
Crucifix
Bells
Organ
Vestment case
54 church pews
These appointments are memorial gifts already donated by generous benefactors. Some of the ministry groupings at Sts. Peter and Paul are:
Adult choir
