Mechanic killed in freak accident

SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth:

ONE MAN has been killed and two others injured as a result of a freak accident on Sunday evening at a garage at Longwood in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth. The dead man has been identified as Nikita Williams 39, auto mechanic of the said address, while the injured were Raul Williams, brother, and Delroy Jones.

A family member reported that sometime in the evening, the men were at a section of the garage working where the deceased was putting in air into a truck tyre when the compressor exploded. He was thrown by the impact a few metres away and died.

One of his friends, who was early on the scene, said Nikita was a good man and he will be surely missed.

In the meantime, The Gleaner has learnt that his father, upon hearing the sad news, collapsed and died yesterday.
