Duncan reports of threat to his life

Duncan

Political analyst, dental surgeon and former General Secretary of the People's National Party, Dr. D.K. Duncan, has reported to the Prime Minister and Commissioner of Police that he has been made aware of "detailed plans to inflict physical harm" on his person.

"After careful thought and consultation," he said last week, "I am convinced that, in the circumstances, one of the most effective ways of ensuring the preservation of my life is to share this information with the public."

According to Dr. Duncan, "reliable and credible sources" had told him that a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) attached to the Protective Services Division had discussed the threat. Last Thursday, he reported the information to the Commissioner of Police, Francis Forbes, and also informed Prime Minister P.J. Patterson.

Despite numerous attempts throughout Thursday and Friday, The Sunday Gleaner was unable to contact Commissioner Forbes for comment. It is therefore unclear what action the Commissioner has taken regarding the reported threat.
