Port Antonio Marina opens

PRIME MINISTER P.J. Patterson last Wednesday officially opened the US$15 million Port Antonio Marina Project in Portland, during a ceremony involving a wide cross-section of persons.

In his remarks, Mr. Patterson noted the high quality of the work done on the project and said that the project was part of the overall thrust to improve the island's port facilities.

"The new construction and amenities have been so skilfully integrated that the Harbour has maintained its natural beauty and aesthetic integrity," he observed.

The marina consists of a refurbished Ken Wright Cruise Pier and terminal building; 32 berths for yachts up to 76 metres; a promenade and access road with multiple shops and several restaurants; a freezone boat yard, on-land storage for 50 boats and multi-skilled repair facility as well as facilities for marine police.
