Lopez and ForbesTHE NEXT Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica-sponsored "Let's take Jamaica back!" phone-in session takes place tonight and will give the public another opportunity to join the fight against crime.
Phone lines open between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. with Commissioner of Police, Francis Forbes, taking the hot seat again to field calls. He can be contacted on 927-6930 during those hours.
Alongside the Commissioner will be Assistant Commissioner, Jevene Bent (978-6404); Reverend Canon Weeville Gordon from St. Matthew's church (927-6931); representative of the Council for Voluntary Social Services, Errol Morrison (927-7865) and Beverly Lopez from the Jamaica Exporters Association (927-6409).
The phone-in has been growing in popularity since its inception, receiving calls from as far afield as South Africa and Canada.
Previous recommendations have included the return of hanging, assuming a zero tolerance attitude to crime, creating a volunteer police force and giving police tranquilliser pellets to replace live rounds in an attempt to save lives.
The sessions are intended to encourage and enable people to give the police greater information on crime.
People who are unable to call during the set hours and have information regarding crime, can call Crime Stop on 1-888-991-4000.
