The burial of good behaviour

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WITH PATIENCE and courage combined we are now covering "a milestone ­ forty years sailing in our ship captained by Jamaican men. Is Jamaica better off? On August 6, 1962 colonial politicians passed on to Jamaican politicians ­ a well behaved Jamaica.

But alas, during the past four decades good behaviour seems to have become tenants of the grave? For that matter on recent Independence Day of celebrating I imagined a certain memorial. I mean the memorial pertaining to the burial of "good behaviour".

Mr. Editor, with this recurring unrest, how can this nation be content?
