Nurses declare anti-violence stance

THE EDITOR, Sir:

GREETINGS FROM the Nurses Association of Jamaica. I write in relation to the violence in our society and to issue the following statement.

The Nurses Association of Jamaica views with alarm, the continuing state of violence and wanton behaviour in our society. We abhor violent behaviour of any type and by any person regardless of status.

Nurses are there to care for the nation and though it is not expected that they would contribute to violence, we wish to reassure the public that any substantiated reports of violence by a registered nurse will be thoroughly investigated and dealt with.

Our goal is to unite to care for families in society even as we speak out against violence.

I am, etc.,

IRIS WILSON
