EARL BAILEY has been elected new president of the Jamaica Institution of Planners, to replace Patrick Anderson who remains on the executive as treasurer.
The other members are vice president Francis Blair of the National Environment and Planning Agency and secretary Berylyn Brown, a private consultant. Anderson is also a private consultant.
Bailey who is a lecturer and course co-ordinator at University of Technology in the Faculty of the Built Environment since 1993, has extensive qualifications in urban and regional planning, natural resource management, and expertise in remote sensing and geographic information systems.
He gives his occupation as environmental development planner and lecturer.
Along with his substantive position at UTech, Bailey is a training instructor for HEART since 1997, and is a consultant on two Operation PRIDE projects Riverton Meadows and Wareika Hills.
The new executive was selected April 10 at the institute's annual general meeting.
