Hanover JAS to conduct coconut field training

THE JAMAICA Agriculture Society (JAS) Hanover Chapter will be conducting a coconut field-training ad on April 23 in observance of Farmers' Month.

According to JAS Parish Manager Revinto Moseley, the field day was planned with the main objective of re-establishing coconut as a viable crop for western Jamaica. "Coming out of a field day some months ago on coconut production, over 100 farmers from across the parish expressed their interest in partci-pating in a replanting programme" says the JAS parish manager.

Next week's field day is geared towards educating interested farmers and preparing them so they can achieve maximum yield from their plants. Areas also to be addressed at the field day include lethal yellowing disease and the replanting of resistant varieties.
