IT IS with dismay that I write about the brutal killing of Mr. David Turner following a robbery on Tuesday outside of his office.
I am one of a close-knit and concerned group of young Jamaicans who have studied and now reside in South Florida.
It is an affront to decent citizens, both in and out of the island, that a gentle man, a husband and father, would have his life summarily and coldly snuffed out, especially as neither he nor his companions offered any resistance whatsoever to the gunmen.
I have watched over the years as the criminal element in Jamaica has risen at an appalling rate. These vermin steal for a living, and kill, it would appear, for entertainment.
The choice I took to remain in the US temporarily, has now turned into an inadvertent state of exile, as I would prefer to accept the difficulties of life here rather than to live at home with the ever-increasing probability of making my wife a widow, or my children orphans.
