'I love my country'

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I READ a letter published in The Gleaner on March 27, 2002, entitled "My Island in the Sun."

I cannot express to you how this letter has touched me.

Here we have a Jamaican-born, living in the United States since 1967, and still feels this way about this beautiful country.

I have lived abroad since 1978, and I feel the exact same way this writer feels.

I love my country, with all my heart.

He talked about, growing up in Jamaica and the great memories he still has.

Unfortunately, there are so many Jamaicans living abroad, who feel differently.

They have talked so bad about our country among their friends, and dread to ever come back, even for a visit.

Heads up to Lloyd Goulborne in Chicago, Illinois, for still keeping the faith and hope, that one day, God will answer our prayers, to make Jamaica the way it was, before this new generation took over.

God bless him and all the others abroad who feel that way too.

I am etc.,
