
Forbes, Grant, James and EvansDIRECTOR OF the Police Staff College, Novelette Grant, heads a list of 72 officers and subofficers who were promoted by Police Commissioner Francis Forbes on Tuesday.
She has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner, joining Jevene Bent, as the second female Assistant Commissioner in the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).
Described by her colleagues as brilliant, Miss Grant has a first degree in Management Studies and a Master's in Human Resource Development.
She joined the JCF after graduating from Mannings School in 1981. She is the first policewoman promoted through the accelerated promotion programme and was the first female to become a divisional commander.
Promoted from Superintendent to Senior Superintendent are: Donald Pusey, Lola Evans and Owen Ellington. Mr. Pusey who joined the JCF in 1971, has participated in several anti-terrorist courses overseas.
Recently transferred from the Crime Management Unit (CMU), Mr. Pusey is assigned to Police Area 4, where he is second in command to ACP Arthur Martin.
James Forbes, head of the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), has been promoted from Deputy Superintendent to Superintendent. Promoted similarly is George Quallo of the Kingston Central Police Division.
Newton Amos, former Police Federation chairman, is another Deputy Superintendent who has been promoted Superintendent. Also promoted Superintendents are: Denver Frater, Ivan Brown, Norman Gordon, Clover Malcolm-Bogle, Garth Williams, Ray Palmer and Jervis Taylor.
Inspector Cornwall "Bigga" Ford who had been serving as the Crime Officer for South St. Catherine for more than a year, has been promoted Deputy Superintendent.
Other persons promoted DSPs are: Richard Salmon, Radcliffe Lewis, Alman Wright, Martin Bayliss, Merrick Watson, Yvonne Martin-Daley, Delroy Cole and Maxine Reid.
Fifteen Inspectors were promoted Deputy Superintendents, and 43 sergeants were promoted Inspectors, among them is Sonia James of the CCN.
