THE EDITOR, Sir:IT IS an indisputable fact that the white farmers in Zimbabwe (and elsewhere in Africa) are in illegal possession of the land and that this possession represents a gross injustice considering that half a per cent (0.5 per cent) of the population illegally owns and occupies over 85 per cent of the arable lands. White people would never tolerate this in their own countries.
The actions of the Africans can never be truthfully considered illegal for they are merely taking back what is rightfully theirs by the only means left to them. If there are any costs Britain should pay. It is sheer insanity for anyone to expect the Africans to pay the whites to regain their stolen lands. Recognising this, those Black people of Zimbabwe who have not been culturally and spiritually compromised by white colonists, along with president Robert Mugabe and the ZANU-PF party, have decided to take Malcolm X's advice to get justice "by any means necessary" (as the Americans and British are doing in Afghanistan with our blessing but without any comparable justification as Mugabe!)
Naturally this has occasioned the introduction of polices and strategies that have somewhat compromised democratic ideals and curtailed some rights but natural law dictates that the issue of birthright is supreme and must be had at all costs. Furthermore, democracy and so-called 'free will' are not neutral by any means and both can and are used by the 'West' as tools to further their hegemonic designs.
It is no secret that the opposition party in Zimbabwe, the MDC, made up of Blacks of the ilk of Bishop Muzowera who worked against the Independence movement, was founded and is bankrolled by the whites to represent their own interests. Ian Smith himself, the white supremacist former ruler of the country, has admitted to training and coaching opposition politicians!
Finally, it is wrong to speak of an economic crisis or a failing economy in Zimbabwe. In fact, because it is not 'toeing the line,' the country is being subjected to the economic terrorism (as it was called during the French Revolution) of the rich white countries.
