Great show at UWI Black History tribute

Bob Marley

EXCELLENT PERFORMANCES highlighted the University Dramatic Arts Society (UDAS) Black History Month Tribute on Wednesday.

Brilliant performances from the Christian Production Network, Natif, Damion Clarke, Moses Beckford, True Life Ministries and Damion Clarke were hallmark of the production held at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts, UWI, under the theme Redemption Song: Singing One Love.

Christian Production Network, who performed twice, at the beginning and returning later to close the show, demonstrated that they had potential when they performed Lord We Love You.

Later the group returned to applause. They first performed the Reggae Boys 1998 theme song Rise Up which was greeted with cheers. Seeing that the audience was pleased, they performed Man at the River which generated the same response and closed off the night with Mary Mary's Take the Shackles Off My Feet, which saw them receive another resounding round of applause at the end.

Prior to Christian Production Network, Natif, a group of talented females graced the stage with poetry and a fashion show. They paraded various fashions mainly made up of African wear. They paraded casual and formal wear which were also greeted with cheers from the medium sized crow that had gathered at the centre.

Also gracing the stage was Moses Beckford, who opened up the night's proceedings by paying tribute to Bob Marley. He started off with the ever popular Redemption Song before moving on to perform Turn Your Lights Down Low and Jammin.

Sage, a poet, also managed to generate some amount of response from the crowd with his back-up Stephen providing good entertainment.

True Life Ministries also performed poetry for the crowd which also went down well.

Also performing was Damion Clarke, who did a dancing piece to an African roll which was given a huge applause at the end.
