Congrats to the police

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I wish to use this medium to commend the Special Anti-Crime Task Force, the Crime Management Unit and the East Kingston Police Division for the recovery of the guns and ammunition at Dunkirk in East Kingston on Thursday November 22, 2001.

The residents of this and other communities across the constituency are becoming increasingly vigilant against gun violence and other criminal activities in the area. Support for the police is increasing.

This is evidenced by the establishment of some 10 active police youth clubs and numerous citizens support groups in the area resulting in improved relationship between the police and the citizens.

This positive interaction between the police and the citizenry augurs well for the continued reduction of crime and violence in Eastern Kingston.

Just recently, the citizens warmly welcomed the new head of the East Kingston Police Division, Superinten-dent Leon Rose who emphasised that the success of the police in the area depends largely on the support and co-operation of its citizens.

Once again, on behalf of the citizens of East Kingston, congratulations to the police as they continue to help maintain peace and stability in our communities.

I am, etc,

PHILLIP PAULWELL,

MP

East Kingston and Port Royal
