Let's help the police

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THIS IS a good sign that the Constabulary Force still have friends in the society and that they (police) still possess the capability to function and carry out swiftly their operations, despite the many adversities.

With this in mind, let me say "Bravo" to those policemen and women who acted and confiscated over 41,000 rounds of ammunition and 14 firearms.

Commendations are also in place for the Jamaica Constabulary Force and all law-abiding citizens, because we have to work hand-in-hand to "stop the guns before they stop us."

However, the real serious concern in all of this, is the entry of these weapons into the island.

I would also like to know, how does the little man on the street get guns and ammunition? Isn't there a way, when someone is found with an illegal firearm for him/her to release the source?

It behoves us to give the police the necessary intelligence needed to fight this cause.

I am, etc.
