A scene from the play 'Love and Marriage...'
WESTERN BUREAU:
MARK DANVERS of 'Third World Cop' fame has joined the cast of the highly-acclaimed drama 'Love and Marriage in New York City' currently running at the Fairfield Theatre in Montego Bay.
Danvers will play the role of Damion, the street-wise photographer who seems to have all the answers for everything and will replace Rodney Campbell who started the run in that role. Danvers will add depth to an already high calibre cast that also includes Bertina Macaulay as Natalie, the slightly naive if not innocent model who is nearing the end of her career in front of the cameras; Karen Harriott who plays Jessica, the stock trader who has little time for anything but her job and her hamster and Douglas Prout who play Theo, the former banker who joins the others in the Big City.
'Love and Marriage in New York City' is the realistic and gripping story of four very different Jamaicans 'trapped' in the Big Apple. They all have different backgrounds and agendas, but all have to struggle with issues such as "Is the grass really greener on the other side?" What one would do for a green card, hustling for survival in a fast-paced society, juggling careers and relationships, and the universal need to belong to someone.
This is a big romantic comedy with heart and soul. It plays on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays only starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at Overton and Fontana Pharmacies or at the door.
