THE EDITOR, Sir:
IT IS no secret that the police force is being criticised and battered daily by the lawless individuals who have their special aims and motives to create havoc and mayhem in the country.
The policemen and women should be recognised as our protectors and we should realise the danger they face each day whether they are on or off the job. The criminal element goes as far as to target men or women who might even have the features of a cop.
Although not a cop myself, from all indications it is a very stressful, dangerous and uncertain job, especially for those who operate within the inner city, as from all indications the criminal elements within the society seem to be well trained and well equipped.
The question now being asked can the society sit back and watch the once peaceful and beautiful Jamaica go to pieces? Are we working hand in hand with the police or are we working against them? If that is the case, what do we expect to see within a year or two if things continue the way they are where lawlessness rules the day?
Let us all give the security forces our full support in order to rid the country of the criminal elements, whose aims are to kill, rob, rape, maim and destroy. I am sure we can help to combat the situation by being honest, truthful and co-operative with the security forces.
We all have a job to do and that is to work hand in hand with the police.
I am, etc.,
