Informing and educating

THE EDITOR: Sir

REGARDING YOUR article "The U.S. in the Dominican Republic" published Thursday October 25, 2001 in the Gleaner, I take this opportunity to congratulate you not only on a comprehensive article but also for your effort towards informing and educating the reader on such an important piece of the history of the Dominican Republic.

I would like to encourage you for future editions, to try and inform in the same analytical manner, for information and clarification, important aspects of our history between 1821 and 1861, not because of discrepancies in your article, but to further enlighten the readers towards gaining more knowledge of that period in the Dominican Republic's history.

I reiterate my sincere congratulations and take this opportunity to inform you that this Embassy is in the best disposition and co-operation towards you.

I am, etc

ARSENIO
JIMENEZ-POLANCO

Ambassador
