Couple addicted to SuperClubs, Bahamas

By Sonia Morgan, Staff Reporter

WHAT COULD possibly be at a resort that could lure a guest all of 47 times in five-and-a-half years? That is a question Stanton Chea and his wife, Sonja, answered for The Gleaner. They have stayed at SuperClubs' Breezes Cable Beach, Nassau, Bahamas, 47 times. Although, the hotel is only 20 minutes away from their home, it has been the getaway and second home for the couple who has been married for 43 years.

According to Mrs. Chea, it is the "atmosphere, hospitality, service and the welcome. There are so many activities once you arrive there everything that had been on your mind disappears." The stays are usually three nights and four days or four nights, five days.

Having stayed at other hotels, she tells The Gleaner that the kind of hospitality she receives at Breezes Cable Beach is second to none.

She'd rather stick to the hotel where everybody knows her name. Mr. Chea has always accompanied her to these getaways. "I have never been there without him," she said. The visits are a way of keeping the fire in their marriage, Mrs. Chea says in that voice that commands attention.

The Gleaner caught up with the couple on at SuperClubs' 25th Anniversary and 10th Annual Golf Tournament, held at Breezes Runaway Bay on Saturday, September 8, where they were specially invited guests.

Mrs. Chea wore a blue dress with a string of pearls and matching earrings. Her bright, red lipstick and a fluffy mass of tight curls on her head gave her an aura of authority.

One of the features that keeps them going back is the resort's in-house band, 'Summer Breeze Band' with DJ Funky D. For Mrs. Chea, they play the best music and she's hooked.

The couple praised the staff for their efficiency and said, "I don't think you could put a figure on the amount of money they deserve."

The most exciting thing that has ever happened while she was there was to be asked to appear in a promotional video for the hotel. She said this was without prior notice and although she admits to being a bit shy, she was pleased to be asked.

The couple first visited the hotel nine months after it opened and have been visiting since. "You know what they say," she says, "'First impression, last impression'." She left it at that. In fact they have made reservations for October. "Every last one there knows my name, even the hair braiders," she boasted

Stanton and Sonja plan to visit Grand Lido Braco again where they stayed during the anniversary celebrations.
