The Sumfest debacle

THE EDITOR, Sir:

SOMEONE ONCE said, "It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubts." I believe 'The Patriot' should be made aware of this statement before he decides to make another public statement. Everyone is entitled to their opinion no matter how asinine or absurd they are.

The Patriot found nothing wrong with the arrogance and ignorance displayed at Sumfest by some performers. As a matter of fact he found it rather entertaining. Do we still need to ask what's wrong with our society? Here is a Jamaican(?) who applauds and enjoyed the poor behaviour displayed by these performers. He even tried to lambaste the media for publicising the events at Sumfest and other debacles taking place in Jamaica.

The Government appears to be of the same mindset as The Patriot; they find the atrocities taking place in Jamaica entertaining and blame the media for bringing it to the fore. To The Patriot and the Government: Stop trying to kill the messengers.

I am etc.,
