WASHINGTON DC, CANA: JAMAICA international Onandi Lowe helped Kansas City top New England Revolution 2-1 in US Major League Soccer (MLS) on Saturday.
Lowe and Trinidadian Gary Glasgow helped champions Kansas City edge home team New England, with Jamaicans Andy Williams and Wolde Harris, 2-1 at the Foxboro Stadium.
Lowe had an outstanding game. He almost scored on a free-kick in the 53rd minute and with a header in the 61st, before contributing to the opening goal in the 66th minute.
Glasgow, set up by a run from Lowe, shot on goal but his effort was blocked. The Trinidadian forward collected the rebound and passed to Chris Klein, who blasted powerfully past Jose Fernandez in the Rev's goal.
Lowe had a powerful left-footer deflected by Fernandez in the 89th minute.
LA went 2-0 up in stoppage time when Chris Brown scored on a pass from Lowe, and New England pulled one back in the closing seconds through Mauricio Wright.
At the Orange Bowl, hosts Miami Fusion had their unbeaten tag snapped at 12 games as they lost 3-0 to the New York/New Jersey MetroStars.
Adolfo Valencia netted twice to power the MetroStars to their eighth win of the season, closing the gap to nine points on Eastern Division leaders Miami, who had Jamaican Tyrone Marshall and Greg Simmonds, an 80th minute substitute, in their line-up.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines' Ezra Hendrickson made the scoring headlines also as the Los Angeles Galaxy knocked off DC United 3-0.
Hendrickson got LA's first goal as they recorded their eighth win and joined the San Jose Earthquakes on top of the Western Division standings.
Hendrickson, whose fine two-goal effort in January gave LA the CONCACAF club title overt Olimpia of Honduras (3-2), sent LA ahead just before half-time at the RFK Stadium.
Cobi Jones floated a corner into the box, and Hendrickson eluded two defenders to head the ball past United goalkeeper Mike Ammann from eight yards.
Luis Hernandez from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute, and Jones (84th) sealed LA's valuable win on the road.
At the Raymond James Stadium, home team Tampa Bay Mutiny substituted Trinidadian Craig Demmin in the 84th minute, as they slipped to a 3-2 loss to Central Division front-runners. Bulgarian star Hristo Stoichkov had a goal and an assist for Chicago.
At Mile High Stadium, home team Colorado Rapids, with Jamaican Chris Dawes, shot past the San Jose Earthquakes 3-1, through a goal and two assists from Raul Diaz Arce.
And Trinidadian Ansil Elcock made a five-minute appearance at the Crew Stadium for Columbus, who drew 2-2 with the Dallas Burn.
